1. “What are you doing here?” the giant cried in a loud voice. “你們在這兒干什么？”巨人大喊到。
辨析：loud, aloud/loudly
loud常用作形容詞，意為“大聲的”，in a loud voice大聲的。也可作副詞，意為“響亮地”，側重音量大，傳得遠。
They are talking too loud. 他們說話的聲音太大了。
aloud副詞，強調發出的聲音能被聽見，而不是默默地說，常與read，call等連用。
Read the lesson aloud.大聲讀這一課。
loudly副詞，可用于修飾人聲、敲門聲等，強調喧鬧、不悅耳。
Suddenly the bell rang loudly. 突然，鈴聲高響。
2. When spring came, flowers blossomed and the birds began to sing across the land. 春天到了，花開了，鳥鳴叫著飛過大地。
across此處意為“越過”，表示經過某一地方或區域。across也可表示“橫過”，或“在對面”。
A boy walked across the square, singing happily. 一個女孩快東地唱著走過廣場。(越過)
Be careful when you go across the street. 過大街時小心。(橫過)
Across the river, there is a small island.河對面，有一個小島。(在對面)
3. He thought it must be the king’s musicians passing by. 他認為可能是國王的樂師經過。
1) must此處表示猜測，意為“一定”，must表示猜測時，只能用于肯定句。
That man must be a teacher.那個人一定是一位老現。
2) pass by意為“經過，路過”，相當于go by， go past。
I passed by your house last night at about 10. 昨晚十點我經過你家。
