discover, invent和find都是動詞, 它們的詞義相近, 但是有區別:
★discover意為“發現”, 指發現某種本來存在,但以前未被發現或未為人所知的事物或現象。
The lost bike was discovered at the bus stop.
丟了的自行車在公共汽車站那兒找到了。
Later I discovered that he was so kind.
后來我才發現他那么善良。
★invent 意為“發明”, 指發明以前不存在的東西。
Do you know who invented the computer? 你知道誰發明的電腦嗎？
★find 意為“找到, 發現”, 指偶然發現或幾乎沒有困難地發現。
I found some old photos in that drawer.我在那個抽屜里發現了一些舊照片。

主動句變為被動句所遵循的4個步驟：
1. 把原主動句中的賓語變為被動句的主語。
2. 把動詞變為被動形式即be+過去分詞，并注意其人稱和數隨主語的變化，而動詞的時態則保持不變。
3. 原主動句的主語如需要則放在by后面以它的賓格形式出現（注代詞的賓格），如不需要則可省略。
4. 其它的成分（定語、狀語）不變。
被動語態的運用:
（1） 不知道誰是動作的執行者或沒有必要知道誰是動作的執行者時。
The house is quite old. It was built in 1950.
這座房子太舊了，它是1950年建的. When will the road be opened to traffic?
這條路什么時候通車?
（2） 需要強調動作的對象即賓語時。Calculator can't be used in the math exam.
計算器不能用于數學考試。He was awarded first prize in that contest.
他在比賽中獲得了第一。
