It is said the sandwich was invented in England in the 18th century by John Montagu, 4th Earl of Sandwich.
He asked his servants to prepare a chunk (大塊) of meat between two slices of bread, so that he could carry on gambling without stopping to eat.
Language Points
1.by mistake為介詞短語，意為“無意中；錯誤地”,相當于accidentally。

►He ran so slowly that he couldn’t catch up with the others.

by the end of ... 到……末為止
如：①這個月月末我們將會開個會。

(2) in the end 用一個單詞表達可以是finally，
用一個短語表達可以用at last 。
如：最后他贏了。
