一、名詞短語(NP)
名詞短語是以名詞為中心詞的短語。如:a heavy heart(心情沉重),是以heart為中心詞的名詞短語。名詞短語在句子中通常做主語、表語、賓語等。如:
The beautiful girl next to me speaks English well.(主語)
我旁邊的漂亮女孩英語說得好。
That man over there is my chemistry teacher.(表語)
在那邊的那個人是我的化學老師。
Frank joined two clubs last year.(賓語)
富蘭克去年加入了兩個俱樂部。
二、形容詞短語(AdjP)
形容詞短語是以形容詞為中心詞的短語,如:a little confusing(有點迷惑),quite quiet(相當安靜)。形容詞短語在句子中一般做表語、定語、賓語補足語等。如:
The book is very valuable.(表語)
這本書很有價值。
There is nothing very perfect in the world.(定語)
世界上沒有很完美的事。
The good news made us very happy.(賓語補足語)
這個好消息使我們很高興。
