1. invite (v.) 邀請
(1) invite sb.
Eg: I invited her in for a coffee. 我請她進來喝杯咖啡。
Why don‘t you invite them here? 你為什么不邀請他們到這里來?
(2) invite sb. to do sth.
Eg: Jack invited his best friend to have 20th birthday party on the weekend.
杰克邀請他最好的朋友在周末參加他20歲的生日派對。
(3) invite有時也會用在被動語態中,表示“被邀請”。
Eg: I haven't been invited. 我沒有被邀請。
invitation(n.) 邀請,常見搭配有:
make / turn down / accept an invitation 發出/拒絕/接受邀請
2. Thanks for 因……感謝
Thanks for+名詞/代詞/動詞-ing形式
Eg: Thanks for your help.
Thanks for coming.
Thanks for teaching us well.
此處的thanks for 可以和thank you互換,也可以說成
Thank you for telling me the truth.
Thank you for your invitation.
區分Thanks to意為 “多虧,由于” ,to是介詞,后接名詞/代詞/動詞-ing形式。
Eg: Thanks to your help, I succeeded in getting a good job.
多虧了你的幫忙,我才成功得到一份好工作。
3. available(adj.)有空;不忙;有時間交談
Eg: Are you available tomorrow morning?
你明天早上有空嗎?
= Are you free tomorrow morning?
= Do you have time tomorrow morning?
【拓展】available表示“有空”時,后面還可以用to do引出具體的事情。
Eg: I’m afraid I’m not available to help with the school show on the 19th.
我怕是沒空來幫著準備學校19號的演出了。
Eg: Sorry, the number you dialed is not available.
對不起,你所撥打的電話已停機。
