2. Compared with poems, stories usually have longer passages.
和詩相比,故事通常有更長的段落。
compare此處用作不及物動詞,意為“比較”。
辨析:compare ... with ... 與compare ... to ...
compare ... with ... 把······與 ······相比
compare ... to ... 把······與······相比;把······比作······
He compared his handwriting with/to mine.
他把自己的書寫和我的作比較。
Books can be compared to friends. 書籍可被比喻成朋友。
3. Although a poem has fewer words, it’s not always easier to write.
雖然詩有較少的單詞,但是寫起來并不總是容易的。
although 連詞,意為“雖然,盡管;不過,然而”,與 though意思相同,引導讓步狀語從句。
注意:although/though與but不能連用,但可以與yet、still等詞連用。
Although it was hard to finish this task, we made it in time.
雖然完成這項任務很難,但我們還是按時完成了。
4. Sometimes writing less takes more effort than writing more.
有時,寫得少比寫得多要付出更多的努力。
effort 名詞,意為“精力,努力”。 常用搭配:
make an effort to do sth.意為“努力做某事”;put effort into ... 意為“投入精力于······”。
I will make an effort to find out more information.
我將盡力找出更多信息。
5. Like it’s calling me aloud to eat!
好像在大聲呼喚我享用!
aloud 副詞,意為“大聲地”,指為使人能聽見而發聲,常與read,speak等動詞連用。
He read the text aloud this morning. 他早上朗讀了課文。
注意: aloud沒有比較等級。
