Language points
1. population
population意為“人口數量”，謂語動詞要用單數形式。詢問人口數量時要用“What’s the population of ...?”提問，而不用how many或how much等提問。表示人口“多”要用large 或 big；表示人口“少”要用small。
這個城市的人口是600萬。
The population of this city is six million．
中國的人口比美國的人口多很多。
The population of China is much larger than that of the USA.
2. man-made
為合成形容詞，意為“人造的”。英語中像這樣與-made復合而成的形容詞還有：handmade(手工制作的)、homemade (家庭制作的)、machine-made (機制的)等，用以描述產品的生產或制造手段、特點等。
這種魚都是自家做的。
This kind of fish is homemade.

在今天的長城游中，大家盡管問我任何問題，不要拘束。
feel free是英語口語中一個常用表達。若有人讓你feel free to do something，就是讓你無需拘束，只管按照自己的意愿去做某事。e.g.
A: Can I use your computer?
我可以用一下你的電腦嗎？
B: Yes, feel free.可以，請隨意。
4. As far as I know, there are no man-made objects as big as this.
據我所知，再沒有像它這樣大的人造物體了。
as far as I know是一個固定的表達方式，還可以
說so far as I know，意思是“據我所知”。
As far as I know, China is a very large country.
就我所知，中國是一個非常大的國家。
They are very excited, so far as I know.
他們特別激動— 就我所知是這樣的。
5. Qomolangma is 8,848.86 meters high.
It is … meters high (long, wide…).
它……米高(長,寬……)。
英語表示“有多長(寬，高……)”時，一般將數詞和數量單位放在表示長寬高的形容詞前作狀語。
這座山高三千多米。
The mountain is more than three thousand meters high.
它離我們只有三十八萬公里。
It is only 380,000 kilometers away.
這座綠色長城長7,000公里。
The Green Great Wall is 7,000 kilometers long.
much higher 意為“高得多”。在形容比較級前還可以用much, even, a little, still ,a lot, less等修飾詞表示程度。
6. It’s much older than my country. 比我的國家更古老。
他比我跑得更快。
He runs even faster than I.
日本土地面積只比德國大一點兒。
Japan is a little larger than Germany in area.
7. the Ming Great Wall 明長城
“明長城”是指明朝時期為了防御北方游牧民族的騷擾，歷時一百多年在北部地區修筑的軍事防御工程。這段長城東起遼寧虎山，西至甘肅嘉峪關，從東向西橫貫多個省、 直轄市、自治區，全長約8851.8千米，是現存歷代長城遺跡中最完整、最堅固的。
