情態動詞could的用法
情態動詞could構成的句型用于向對方委婉地提出請求或征求對方的許可。
用于疑問句中，可代替can，在時間上與can沒有區別，但語氣要比can委婉、有禮貌。
1. 委婉地請求別人做某事（提出請求）
(1)句型：Could you do…? / Could you please do…?
你能……嗎? / 請問你能……嗎?
(2)肯定回答： Certainly./Of course./With pleasure./No problem./Yes, sure.
否定回答： No, I can’t./Certainly not./No, I’m afraid I can’t.
2. 委婉地請求別人允許自己做某事（征求許可）
(1)句型：Could I do…?我可以做……嗎?
(2)肯定回答：Yes, you can./Certainly./Yes, sure.
否定回答：No, you can’t./No, I’m afraid you can’t.

pass 意為“傳遞”，可直接跟雙賓語，“把某物傳遞給某人”的結構為pass sb.sth.，或pass sth.to sb.。類似此用法的詞還有give，lend，bring。
例句：I pass my father a cup of water.＝I pass a cup of water to my father.我遞給爸爸一杯水。
2．Could I borrow that book？我可以借那本書嗎？
(1)borrow 意為“借”，“向某人借某物”的結構為borrow sth.from sb.。
例句：I borrowed a bike from Tom.＝ I borrowed Tom a bike.昨天我向湯姆借了一輛自行車。
(2)borrow的反義詞是lend，意為“借給；借出”。“把某物借給某人”的結構為lend sb.sth.或lend sth.to sb.。
