influence還可用作名詞，意為“影響，作用”。
常用短語：have an influence on sb.“對某人有影響”。
e.g.:His idea had a great influence on me.

failed his examinations.有時他不去上課并且考試也不及格。
absent 為形容詞，意為”缺席的；不在場的”,常與介詞from連用。
e.g.:They were absent from work that day.
absence 名詞，意為“缺席，不在”。
e.g.:The decision was made in my absence.
fail 此處用作及物動詞，意為“未能通過”；也可用作不及物動詞，因此fail an examination（考試不及格）也可表示為fail in an examination。
e.g.:Bob always fails (in) his examinations.
fail 也可跟動詞不定式，fail to do sth.意為“未能/沒能做某事”。
e.g.:I failed to pass the driving test.
3.They take pride in everything good that I do.我做的每一件好事他們都引以為豪。
take pride in意為“為……感到自豪”，in為介詞，其后可接名詞、代詞或動詞-ing形式。相當于be proud of。
e.g.:The young mother took pride in her son.=The young mother was proud of her son.
