一、英語日期表達法
1．英語日期與漢語日期表達的不同
美式英語中，日期的表達順序是“月日年”。2017年1月1日表達為“January 1st, 2017”，讀作“January the first, two thousand and seventeen”。漢語的表達順序是“年月日”。
2．日期的表達方式
(1)在“某年、某月、某年某月”前用介詞in。
in 2017 在2017年； in May 在五月；
in January, 2014 在2014年1月
(2)在具體某一天或某一天的上午、下午或晚上用介詞on。
on July 2nd 在7月2日；
on the evening of May 1st 在5月1日晚上；
on Wednesday morning 在周三早上
(3)在上午、下午、晚上用介詞in。
in the morning/afternoon/evening
在上午/下午/晚上
(4)在中午、晚上用介詞at。
at noon/night 在中午/晚上
3．對日期提問用“What's the date？”
—What's the date today? 今天幾號？
—It's July 2nd.今天是7月2日。
二、序數詞
1．含義
序數詞表示事物的先后順序(如：第一、第二、第三等)，往往與定冠詞the連用。
2．變化規則
(1)第一至第三單獨記憶。
first 第一； second第二； third第三
它們的縮寫形式是1st, 2nd, 3rd。
(2)第四至第十九一般在基數詞的詞尾加th，“第五、第八、第九、第十二”這幾個序數詞需特殊記憶。
fourth第四； fifth第五； sixth第六； seventh第七； eighth第八；
ninth第九；tenth第十； eleventh第十一； twelfth第十二；
thirteenth第十三；fourteenth第十四； fifteenth第十五；
sixteenth第十六； seventeenth第十七；eighteenth第十八；
nineteenth第十九
它們的縮寫形式是在阿拉伯數字后加th。
如： fourth, fifth, eighteenth的縮寫形式分別為4th, 5th, 18th。
(3)二十以上(含二十)的整十的序數詞將基數詞尾的y變成ie再加th。
twentieth 第二十； fortieth 第四十；
ninetieth 第九十
(4)兩位數的序數詞，只需把個位數變成序數詞即可。
twentythird 第二十三；
sixtyeighth 第六十八
