1. My wife and I lead a poor life.

我和妻子過著貧窮的日子。

wife n.  妻子

e.g. He lived a happy life with his wife. 

他和他的妻子過著幸福的生活。

lead作動詞時,有“帶領;領導”的意思,其過去式和過去分詞為led。

e.g. He led the people from victory to victory.

他領導人民從勝利走向勝利。

Our monitor led the discussion.

我們班長主持討論。

Mr. Wang leads a basketball team.

王老師帶領一支籃球隊。

此外,lead常見的短語有: lead a(n) ... life意為“過著……的生活”;lead to意為“通向;導致”。

e.g. We lead a very quiet life.

我們過著非常安靜的生活。  

All roads lead to Rome.

條條道路通羅馬。

Too much work leads to illness easily.

工作太多很容易導致人生病。

2. It said it could give me whatever I wished for.

它說我想要什么它就給我什么。

whatever引導讓步狀語從句,其含義相當于no matter what,意為“無論什么,不管如何”。     

e.g. Whatever you do, don’t miss this exhibition. 

無論你做什么,都不要錯過這次展覽。

wish可以作名詞,意為“希望,祝愿”。

e.g. He closed his eyes and made a wish. 

他閉上眼睛,許了個愿。

I’m sure that you will get your wish.

我相信你會心想事成的。

被動語態

語態是動詞的一種形式,表示句中主語和謂語動詞表示的動作之間的關系。主動語態表示主語是動作的執行者,被動語態表示主語是動作的承受者。 

構成

被動語態通常由“助動詞be +及物動詞的過去分詞”構成。被動語態可用于多種時態,常見的有一般現在時、一般過去時和一般將來時的被動語態,其結構如下:

一般現在時的被動語態:am / is / are +及物動詞的過去分詞

一般過去時的被動語態:was / were +及物動詞的過去分詞

一般將來時的被動語態:will + be +及物動詞的過去分詞

注意:含情態動詞的被動語態的結構是:情態動詞+be + 及物動詞的過去分詞。

被動語態的用法

被動語態主要用于以下幾種情況:

1. 強調動作的承受者。

e.g. This kite was made by my father. 

這個風箏是我父親做的。

2. 不知道動作的執行者或沒有必要提及執行者。

e.g. It can’t be done in a day.

它不能在一天內完成。

3. 有些動詞習慣上常用被動語態。

e.g. She is said to be a good doctor.

據說她是一個好大夫。
