1. You need to have something strong around you to protect you from falling objects. 你需要周圍有堅固的東西來保護你免受下落物體的傷害。
protect…from (doing) sth.意為“使……免于；保護……不受侵害”。
You can wear a hat to protect you from the sun. 你可以戴一頂帽子保護你不受太陽的照射。
Trees protect the water and the land from running away. 樹保護水土流失。
2. If you are close to the sea, try to get as far away from the water as possible. 如果你在海邊，離大海越遠越好。
1）be close to意為“（在空間、時間上）接近”，當后面跟人時表示“與某人親近”。stay away from意為“遠離”。
