1.What do you know about April Fools’ Day?
fool為可數名詞,意思是“愚人”,復數形式是fools。
The man is not a fool.
這個男人不是傻瓜。
【拓展】fool 可以作動詞,意思是“欺騙”,后面可以加名詞或者代詞作賓語。
That man was fooled.
那個男人被騙了。
2.Have you ever played a trick on a friend?
trick在這作名詞,意思是“玩笑;詭計;惡作劇”,是一個可數名詞。play a trick on sb 意思是“捉弄某人”,和play tricks on sb 意思相同。
We played a trick/tricks on Lucy.
我們捉弄了露西一下。
【拓展】play a joke on意思是“和某人開玩笑”,相當于play jokes on sb。
Don’t play a joke/jokes on disabled people.不要開殘疾人的玩笑。
3.There’s a fierce bear coming.
“There be+主語+動詞的現在分詞+其他.”意思是“有……正在做某事”,現在分詞在這作定語,修飾主語。
There are many girls singing in the classroom.許多女孩正在教室唱歌。
【拓展】There be 結構中be的單復數遵循就近原則。
There are two chairs,one desk and three pictures in the classroom.

兩句的意思都是:教室里有一張桌子,兩把椅子,三張圖畫。
4.Protect yourselves!
protect作及物動詞,意思是“保護,保衛”,后加名詞或者代詞作賓語。其構成短語protect…from…表示“保護……不受……”。

我們應該保護動物。
We should protect the animals from being killed.我們應該保護動物免受殺害。
