一般情況在詞尾直接加 est；以字母 e 結尾的只加 st；
重讀閉音節詞尾只有一個輔音字母時，先雙寫該輔音字母，再加 est；
以輔音字母 + y 結尾的先變 y 為 i 再加 est；
在多音節和部分雙音節詞的前加 most 或 least；
此外還有一些不規則變化的單詞，需要我們特殊背誦。

最高級的用法
1）我是我們班最高的。I am the tallest in our class.
2）他是三人中跳的最高的。He jumps highest of the three people.
表示三者或三者以上的人或事物的比較，其中一個某方面超過其他幾個時，我們要用形容詞或副詞的最高級，在句子的后面可以用 of ( in ) 短語來表示比較的范圍，形容詞的最高級前面一般要加定冠詞 the。副詞最高級前面的 the 可以省去。
