一、簡單句及并列句中的省略

二、復合句中的省略
1.賓語從句中的省略
(1)在賓語從句中常省略引導詞that,但當及物動詞之后跟兩個或兩個以上的賓語從句時,只有第一個that可以省略。
He said (that)the text was very important and that we should learn it by heart.
他說這篇課文很重要,我們應該牢記在心。
I know(that)she is a teacher and that she is an excellent writer.
我知道她是一位老師,也是一位優秀的作家。
(2)when,where,how和why引導的賓語從句有時僅保留引導詞。
I know that a movie star will come to our city but I don’t know when (he will come to our city).
我知道一個電影明星將要來我們市,但我不知道他什么時候來。
2.定語從句中的省略
(1)一般說來,在限制性定語從句中,作賓語的關系代詞that,which,who,whom可以省略;而在非限制性定語從句中作賓語的關系代詞不可以省略。
The exact year (which/that)Angela and her family spent together in China was 2008.
安吉拉和她的家人一起在中國度過的那一年是2008年。
The man,whom you saw yesterday,fell ill. 那個人生病了,你昨天見到他了。
(2)當先行詞是way,且引導詞在定語從句中作方式狀語時,引導詞可用in which或that,也可以省略。
The way (that/in which)he speaks to us is really annoying.
他跟我們講話的方式真是讓人討厭。
