Language points
1. “there be” 句型一般將來時的表達:
肯定句: There will be ＋名詞(短語)
否定句: There will not / won’t be ＋ 名詞(短語)
一般疑問句:
— Will there be ＋名詞(短語)?
—Yes, there will. / No, there won’t.
2. fewer與less及more表數量的用法
例: a few days ago, for a few weeks
► He has few friends here.
► There will be fewer trees.
1)few，形容詞，帶否定含義“幾乎沒有，很少的”，修飾可數名詞。其比較級、最高級為規則變化：
few－fewer－fewest 。
“a few”表示“一些”。
2) There’s little food left. We have to buy some.
There’s a little water in the cup.
There will be less pollution.
little，形容詞,帶否定含義“很少的，幾乎沒有的”
“小的，幼小的”，修飾不可數名詞。其比較級、最高級為不規則變化: little－less－least。
“a little”表 一些”。
3) There will be more people on the earth in the future.
More and more students start to exercise more everyday to keep fit.
many “許多”，修飾可數名詞。
much “許多”，修飾不可數名詞。
many / more 比較級、最高級為不規則變化：
many / much －more－most
3. play a part in 參與某事

prediction是predict 的名詞形式。有“預言、預料、預測”之意。 例如：
► Sales were five percent lower than predicted.
銷售額比預計的低5%。
► Newspapers predicted that Davis would be re-elected.
報紙預測戴維斯將再次當選。
5. Everyone should play a part in saving the earth.
每個人都應當盡一份力來拯救地球。
play a part in… 是一個固定結構，表示“參與……；
在……中盡自己一份力量” 例如：
► She plays an active part in teaching these poor children.
她積極參加對這些貧窮孩子的教學工作。
► He didn’t play a part in making this decision.
他并沒有參與做出此決定。
