Language points
1. at the beginning of this year 在今年年初
beginning n. 開頭, 反義詞為 end，結束。
at the beginning of 在……開始
at the end of 在……末尾
from the beginning to end 從頭到尾
如：He will come here at the beginning of this month.
他會在這月初來到這里。
2. They are going to start an exercise program or eat less fast food.
eat與have這兩個動詞都可以表示“吃”。
1) eat可用作及物或不及物動詞, 是日常用語，但用在
日�？谡Z中不夠禮貌。讓別人“吃”，通常用have。
► Where shall we have our dinner?
我們在哪兒吃飯？
2) 在美國, eat既作“吃”, 又作“喝”解。
如: We eat our soup first. 我們先喝湯。
3)have是普通用語, 同樣可以表示“吃”,也可以表示
“喝”。用在非正式的文體中。如:
► What time do you have supper? 你們什么時候吃晚飯？
► I do not have coffee in the evening. 晚上我不喝咖啡。
3. Some resolutions have to do with better panning… 有些決定與合理的時間規劃有關……
1) 句中planning 為名詞，表示“計劃、規劃”如：city planning(城市規劃)。better plan 意為：合理規劃，指通過制定計劃來更加充分地利用時間、空間、精力。
2) Have to do with表示“與……相關；與……有關聯或有
關系”如：
► What dose this problem have to do with what we’re learning today?這道題跟我們今天所學的內容有什么關系？
4. Sometimes the resolutions may be too difficult to keep.有些時候這些決定可能會太難而無法實現。
1) 句中情態動詞 may 表示推測，相當于漢語的“可能；也許；大概”的意思。如：
► You may be right this time, but I’ m not sure.
這一次或許你是對的，但是我無法確定。
2) too…to…是一個固定結構，表示“太……而不能……”
► The kid is too young to play this game.
這個小孩太小，不能玩這個游戲。
3) 句中的動詞keep表示“履行（諾言等）；遵守（慣例等）”如：
► People hardly ever keep them!
人們很少履行它們（指計劃）。
還有類似的用法：
keep a promise(信守承諾)
keep one’s promise (遵守承諾；說話算數)等。如：
We always keep our word. 我們說話是算數的。
